£100 Million Fund to Improve Town Centres (Wales)27th February 2023

£100 million in funding is available for local authorities to redevelop and improve town centres across Wales.

The Transforming Towns initiative includes measures such as encouraging the public sector to locate services in town centre areas to increase foot traffic, addressing unused buildings and land to repurpose them, and implementing green initiatives in town centres.

The Welsh Government-funded programme will allow local authorities to offer assistance to private businesses, including developers, third sector organisations, and the public sector. This support can be provided through either capital grant funding to cover various capital investment regeneration activities in town centres, or through the Transforming Towns Loan Scheme, which offers interest-free funds that are usually repayable within a period of up to 5 years.
